George Barbar founded The Barbar Group in 1975 after relocating his family from Jamaica to Boca Raton, Florida. A pioneer in creating attractive and innovative commercial and community-oriented residential real estate projects, the company was widely recognized as a leading force in shaping growth and development in south Palm Beach County. Most noted of his accomplishments include Woodfield Country Club, Regency Court, Woodfield Hunt Club, The Barbar Center and Lakes at Boca Raton along with numerous international investments and public-private partnerships.
In response to changes in the real estate development industry in the 1990s, he was instrumental in leading the company toward its current concentration in public-private partnership and real estate consulting services as Barbar & Associates.
